Opportunities in Health Care

As Oklahoma’s population continues to increase in age, its health care needs also increase. According to the Census Bureau, Oklahoma's 85+ population will increase by 73.7% by the year 2025. This means the demand for jobs in health care will continue to grow.

Oklahoma is already experiencing shortages of the following workers, including but not limited to:

• nurses;
• lab technicians;
• imaging technologists;
• respiratory therapists;
• physical therapists and PT assistants;
• dietary managers, aides and assistants;
• surgical technologists;
• certified nurse aides;
• certified medication aides;
• occupational therapists;
• emergency medical responders;
• mental health therapists;
• speech language pathologists; and
• pharmacists.

These needs are expected to continue to increase in the future.
